Final Six Sentence Sunday!

Welcome all to the final Six Sentence Sunday!  I've so enjoyed reading all of the wonderful excerpts, and I've loved getting to share and chat with everyone who has stopped by.

In honor of the occasion, I've decided to post a particularly steamy snippet from A Flowerpot Christmas Tree.  In this scene, widowed anthropology professor Lillian Chase is discovering that the hot, much-younger artist, Noah Ames, can be a bit of a tease.

“Ah, don’t stop! Fuck me!”

Noah did not obey. Without warning he pulled back, slowed himself, and took away those delightfully adept fingers. Making agonizingly slow circles with his hips, he watched till my chest stopped heaving and my breathing slowed. I think I actually pouted.

Six Sentence Sunday 1/20

Welcome and thank you so much for dropping by!  This week, I'm giving you six more sentences from my newly contracted novella, Valentine's Walk.  Be sure and check back for the release date and cover reveal.  :)

We're skipping ahead this week.  In the following scene, Sarah (the physical therapist) has just helped Ethan up and out of his wheelchair.  Ethan's having a hard time letting himself be helped, and the moment brings with it an intimacy that surprises them both:

"Everybody needs help sometimes.” Sarah looked him squarely in the eyes when she said it, so close she could feel his breath on her cheek. That strand of hair had fallen back down in front of her face. Ethan reached up and gently tucked it behind her ear. Her breath caught and her lips parted almost imperceptibly when his fingers grazed first her temple and then the delicate skin on her ear. The sensation sent a jolt of electricity surging through her body.

My Wishes for the New Year

I recognize that it's the middle of January, and I'm just now getting around to making a New Year's post. I suppose I should add "stop procrastinating" to my list. Maybe later...

In many ways, I feel like 2012 is the year I came into being. I published my very first short story ("Unmasked" from Halloween Heat VI), and now I've published my first novella. I feel like I'm finally starting to understand who I am and what I'm supposed to be doing. And so, in 2013, my goals and wishes are all centered on continuing that journey. Forget about losing 10 pounds or organizing the junk drawer. This year, I wish you happiness and love.

Here are my wishes, in no particular order:

1) Always give myself permission to stay up for just one more chapter
2) Learn to cook one new dish
3) Throw out all the socks with holes in them
4) Get kissed in the rain
5) Buy a round for everyone in the bar (OK, a small bar...on a weeknight...what am I, made of money?)
6) Laugh, especially at myself
7) Watch black and white movies
8) Take more naps
9) Forgive easily
10) Love hard

Happy New Year!

Six Sentence Sunday 1/13

This week I'm bringing you six more sentences from Valentine's Walk, my unconventional erotic romance about a man who may never walk again and a physical therapist with baggage of her own.  I'm thrilled to announce that I've just signed a contract on the story with Etopia Press.  Check back for a release date and a cover reveal!

Last week, I shared six sentences in which Ethan reveals that he will probably never walk again.  The following six pick up where the last excerpt left off:

"Probably is better than definitely." She patted Ethan's thighs. "No catheter or colostomy bag?"

Ethan reddened at the suggestion and shook his head vehemently.

"Look, if you've still got control of your mind and your bowels, you've got nothing to complain about."

"Are you always such a goddamned optimist?"

Six Sentence Sunday 1/6

This week's six sentences come from my current work in progress, Valentine's Walk.  Valentine's Walk is an unconventional romance about a man whose life was shattered by a car accident and the physical therapist who helps him rebuild.

"Tell me, what exactly did the doctors say?"

Ethan leaned back in his wheelchair and stared down at his lifeless legs. "That I'd probably never walk again. That I'm lucky to be alive. That if I hadn't been wearing my seatbelt, I wouldn't be."

"You are lucky."
